Obituary of Glena Nelmes

Glena Nelmes

Passed away peacefully following a brief illness on Nov 22, 2006, at Winston Park Nursing Home, Kitchener, Ontario, with her daughter Susan McTavish and son-in-law Stuart at her side. Glena had moved back to Canada from Greeneville, Tennessee three years ago following the death of her husband Bill, in order to be closer to her daughter and her family, including her grandchildren Kelly, Megan, and James McTavish.
Glena was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario (then known as Port Arthur) to parents Ina and Mac Campbell, and spent the first half of her life there. She married James Morrow Walsh, also from Port Arthur. They, along with their daughter Susan, spent many enjoyable years in Port Arthur and in particular, summers at Loon Lake. James passed away in 1960, and two years later Glena met and married Bill Nelmes. Following her marriage to Bill, they moved to Toronto, then Vancouver, Montreal, back to Thunder Bay, and finally to Greeneville Tennessee. They made many close friends in each of those cities.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held in Waterloo at a later date when the family can all be together. Interment will follow in the spring or early summer in Thunder Bay, which was Glenas wish. Donations can be made in Glenas memory to either the Humane Society, to reflect her love for animals and dogs in particular, to the Alzheimer Society, or a charity of choice and can be arranged through Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, 519-745-8445 or www.erbgood.com
