<h1>Maryann Netzel</h1> December 6, 1914 – November 11, 2008 Maryann Netzel (nee Meyer), was called home to her Saviour, Jesus Christ at the Columbia Forest Long Term Care Centre, Waterloo, on Remembrance Day. Maryann was born in St. Clements Ontario and lived most of her life in Waterloo. She was predeceased by her husbands Leander Schnurr and Edward Netzel. She was also predeceased by her oldest son Lawrence Schnurr (Ruth). Maryann will be forever missed by her sons Tom Schnurr (Marylou Robbins) and David Netzel (Carole) and her 6 grandchildren; Angela Schnurr, Laura Schnurr, Kelly (Joe), Tara (Glen), Vanessa and Julia Netzel; five great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Maryann retired as a valued employee of Henry Birks and Sons, Kitchener, with 25 years of service. She was a proud member of the Catholic Women’s League for 50 years and a long time parishioner of St. Louis Catholic Church and St. Michael’s Catholic Church Waterloo. She was an inspiration to her family and friends, especially her granddaughters, who will forever remember her as a person who demonstrated an unequalled elegance, dignity and a true grace. Maryann is resting peacefully at the Erb and Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Thursday November 13 (today) from 7 – 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael’s R.C. Church, 240 Hemlock Street, Waterloo, on Friday, November 14, at 1 pm. with Rev. Cornelius J. O’Mahony as celebrant. Interment to follow at St. Clement. R.C. Cemetery. A reception will follow the committal service, in the Historic Kuntz House of the Funeral Home. Maryann’s family would like to thank the staff at the Columbia Forest Long Term Care Centre, especially Dr. Mather, past director Patti Fetter, Denuda (Head Nurse) and the personal care workers, for their kindness, support and extra effort and attention they gave our Mum. In living memory of Maryann, a donation will be made to the Trees for Learning Program by the funeral home.
