Obituary of Philipp Resch

Philipp Resch

Philipp went to be with his Lord peacefully on November 11, 2008 at the age of 84 years, in Waterloo. Born in Worms (Kassel), Germany. Family and friends were the proud foundation upon which Philipp built his life. A truly loving father, the best husband and a great uncle, Philipp always gave of himself and perfectly balanced family and work.
He is remembered and inspired always by his daughter, Sylvia Ogrodzinski and her wonderful husband Richard, whom Philipp adored, and Philipp's only grandchildren, whom he lovingly and proudly spoiled since they were born: David Ross Phillip (16) and Daniel Jordan (14). Philipp had full work careers in instrumentation and as a steamfitter/pipefitter at Honeywell, B.F. Goodrich, then Epton, that took him from Montreal, Kingston, Elliott Lake, Port Colbourne, St. Catharines, Hamilton and Kitchener-Waterloo. He passionately loved his wife Marion, who passed away in 1995. He was fond of travelling to Kassel, Germany where family included a niece, Martina (Rolf) Resch-Huber; a nephew, Norbert a.k.a Oskar (Elke) Resch and The Riedl Family in Steinach, Tyrol, Austria.
He had hobbies as a ham radio operator, collecting rare stamps and going to the Waterloo Market every Saturday morning. His sparkling eyes, his readiness to find humour and much laughter along with his strength of character, integrity and commitment flourished proudly at our family gatherings.
Warm heartfelt thanks to the love, care and attention given by all the nurses, care workers and activity co-ordinators at Pinehaven Nursing Home.
Let's celebrate his life: Sylvia, Richard, David & Daniel invite you to a Communion Mass given by Father Peter at St. Agnes RC Church, 75 Bluevale St., Waterloo at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, followed by a visitation with lunch and refreshments at 12 noon at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St., Waterloo and those who wish may accompany family to the interment at 2 p.m. at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
Friends may keep in touch with Sylvia via email: sylviamonica@shaw.ca. The measure of life is not its duration but its donation: for all to enjoy, a blue spruce fir tree will be planted in the spring at a local park by the family. That's what Dad and Opa would certainly have enjoyed.
