1939-2007
Passed away on Sunday May 6, 2007 after a battle with cancer.
Beloved husband of Jane and loving father of Scott. Edward is survived by his sisters Elizabeth and Jeanette, his brother-in-law Paul, and his mother-in-law Marjorie Atchison.
Born in Penzance, Cornwall England, Ed received his degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Bristol. He immigrated to Canada and entered into teaching after working as an engineer. Ed's passion for teaching was shown in his devotion to his students, his work with the Ministry of Education, and his writing of books. Ed was the recipient of the Steward Award for Teaching Excellence, the Science Teacher's Association of Ontario's Excellence in Teaching Award and the country's highest teaching honour, the Prime Minister's Award for Teaching Excellence. His enthusiasm for teaching continued after his retirement when he went to work for the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in their outreach program. Ed's sense of humour and eternal optimism touched all who knew him. Honouring Edward's requests, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held.
