K. ISABELLE BLACHFORD (Zryd) Passed on May 5, 2009
I've had a wonderful life. Born in Grimsby, Ontario and raised in Hespeler, my dad was a businessman and my mother was involved in the Arts. I was an only child and at times, a little lonely. Thankfully, my best friend, Ruth Parks (Schultz) made sure we were invited to all the parties. I married Cal Blachford of Hamilton and we had three children, Jack, (Pauline) of Vancouver, Beverley, (Wayne) of Cambridge and Corinne, (Wayne) of Williamsford and Cairo, Egypt. We were blessed by our nine grandchildren, Jack and Pauline's children, Jay, Dean, Tyler and Sabrina, Beverley and Wayne's children, Alison, Chris and Andy, and Corinne and Wayne's children, Ejaye and Adam. Four of my grandchildren have given me six great-grandchildren. Daniel and Aaron, sons of Alison and Steven, Joshua, son of Chris and Natalia, Andersen and Sommer, children of Ejaye and Amy, Jada, daughter of Jay and Annette. Cal, who was also an only child, wouldn't believe the brood we have created. Our cottage at Puslinch Lake provided us with many summers of enjoyment. Close enough for Cal to commute to work, we have many wonderful memories of raising our three children and entertaining our grandchildren. When we moved to Kitchener from Windsor, Cal started Circle Sales, a company involved in the sanitary supply industry. My responsibilities early on included preparing quotes, book-keeping, shipping and receiving. I was actively involved in the Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire (I.O.D.E). I became Regent at the Municipal and Provincial levels and then went on to the National Board. Although I enjoyed being in a leadership role, my heart was in "Services" where we provided aid to struggling countries throughout the Commonwealth. I am proud to say I am a life member of the I.O.D.E. Through Cal's membership in the Sales and Advertising Clubs of Canada and our involvement in Rotary International, we experienced many interesting international trips. Cal and I have both been recognized by Rotary as Paul Harris Fellows. We were also longtime and active members of the Church of St. John the Evangelist. I was predeceased by my husband, Cal in 1983 and my son-in-law, Wayne Hamilton, in 2004. I would like to thank the wonderful staff of Cabral House at Stirling Heights Long Term Care for their love and care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The I.O.D.E or Rotary International and can be arranged through the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445. As I've said, it's been a wonderful life. Please join my family at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home , 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Sunday, May 10, 2009, from 2-4 p.m. to reminisce about the good times. The funeral service will be held at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, 23 Water St. N., Kitchener, on Monday, May 11, 2009 at 11 a.m.
Love, Isabelle
