<h1>Edelgard Schranz</h1> 1943 - 2008 With sadness we announce the passing, after a courageous and dignified battle against cancer, of Edelgard Barbara Schranz, age 65, nee Engelke (Gonzalez). Loving and loved wife of Siegfried Schranz. Loving and loved mother to Julianne, Thomas (Bethany), Xavier, Mathias (Tracey), Liesel Banmann (Willy), and Siegfried (Kristen). Caring stepmother to Erhard (Allison) and Ellen Heslop (Travis). Omi to Courtney and Kailey Schranz, and Edy to Dillon, Riley, and Jacob Heslop. Predeceased by her parents Elizabeth and Friedrich Engelke and her brother Wolfgang. Thanks be to God for the life of Edelgard, our beloved. Dona nobis pacem. Edat is survived by sisters Gudrun (Gisbert) Snethlage and Christiane (Rotger) Snethlage, and her brother Juergen (Dianne); many nieces and nephews in Canada and Germany and many life-long friends. Miss Engelke/Gonzalez/Schranz taught elementary and secondary school; some years for the Toronto Board and many for the Waterloo Region District School Board. She taught at Punkydoodle Corner, Baden, supplied in Cambridge and the K-W area, and taught at Open Doors University Heights and Jacob Hespeler Secondary School. Friends are invited to share in the celebration of Edelgard’s life and faith to be held at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, 131 Flax Mill Drive, Conestogo, on Thursday, June 5 at 11a.m with Pastor Monika Wiesner officiating. After the committal service at the St. Matthew’s Cemetery, friends are invited back to the church for a reception. On Tuesday, June 3, there will also be a 7 o’clock service of prayer. The compassion and competence of Drs. Basrur, Campbell, Cescon, of the medical staff at the Grand River Cancer Centre and Grand River Hospital and the CCAC and Red Cross nurses are deeply appreciated by the family.
