Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at the age of 54 years.
Kasem is survived by his beloved wife, Chintana, his mother, Khampheng Xaysy, his son,Jamie Xaysy; his daughter Soussamay and her husband Jamie McManus; his brother Vong Xaysy; his sister Vanny Philakhong, his sister Sousy Manthongsy, his sister Chansook Chittakhone, his brother Sousak Xaysy, his sister Soumalee Boonprasert, his brother Sananh Xaysy, his sister Bouasavanh Sukhaseum and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Kasem was predeceased by his father Samran Xaysy in 1990 and his son Johnny Xaysy in 2007.
Kasem was a faithful parishioner of St. Louis RC Church where he served as an Usher. He was a caring and compassionate friend of the community who was always willing to help others in need. One of his great passions was fishing. When not at the service of others, he could be found in the Saugeen River welcoming the first rays of the day with a fishing pole in hand and a smile on his face.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Kasem with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Thursday, June 4, from 6-9 p.m. and Friday, June 5, from 6-9 p.m. Parish Prayers will be held Friday evening at 8:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Louis RC Church, 53 Allen Street East, Waterloo on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Tim Uniac CR as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
