<h1>Laverne (Vern) Miller</h1> 1923 – 2008 Laverne died peacefully at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 with his family by his side. Beloved husband of Jean (House); cherished father of Donna (Richard) Roberts, Patricia Miller and Carol (Jim) McKinley. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren – Lori (Dan Schaefer), Scott (Sherry) Butchart, Melanie (Steve) Chris, Todd (Regan) Roberts and Mike (Ashley) Roberts and six great grandchildren – Blair, Brookelyn, Ethan, Joshua, Sadie and Braden. He is also survived by his brother Gene (Mel) Miller and their family. He was predeceased by his parents Milton and Melinda (Thur) Miller and his sister Myrna Smythe. He was a member of Emmanuel United Church and had been active in various activities in the church over the years. He was in the R.C.A.F. during the 2nd World War. He was employed by the City of Waterloo and later by the Province of Ontario for the Ministry of Community and Family Services as Administrator for over 40 years. In his lifetime he was active in community activities and sports – baseball, hockey, tennis and badminton. Friends are invited to share their memories of Vern with his family at the Erb &amp; Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South Waterloo on Friday, May 30, 2008, from 1 pm to 1:45 pm. The memorial service to celebrate his life and faith will follow in the chapel of the funeral home on Friday at 2 pm with Rev. Bruce Sweet officiating. Private family interment in Mount Hope Cemetery, Waterloo.
