<h1>John Hawkins</h1> 1929– 2009 John passed away peacefully, with family at his side, at Freeport Health Centre, Kitchener on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at the age of 79. Sadly missed by his beloved wife of 57 years Winifred (Winnie), his son Paul of Vancouver and daughter Lynn and her husband Brooke Webber of Kitchener as well as his granddaughter Courtney Webber. John’s career started as a Chef in the hospitality industry. He shared his experience and knowledge at George Brown College as a dedicated mentor to Apprentice Chefs until his retirement. John “The Hawk” will be remembered by his family, friends, colleagues and students for his wonderful sense of humour and his wood carving talent. Friends are invited to share their memories of John with his family during visitation at the Erb &amp; Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Wednesday, May 27 from 12:00 pm to 12:45 pm. The funeral service will be held at 1pm in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Rob Towler of St. Andrew's Memorial Church officiating. Cremation will have taken place and a private interment will follow at a later date.
