After a courageous two year battle with cancer, Kate passed away at home surrounded by her family and best friend on Sunday morning, May 2, 2010, at the age of 46.
Kate was the beloved wife of Stephen Bienkowski for 24 years; cherished mother of Michelle and Erin; loving daughter of Marilyn and Dr. Neville Lefcoe and Jim and Carmen Kilpatrick, all of London; dear sister of Adrienne Fulford (Tony) and Holly Smith, all of London; and step-sister of Dr. Daniel Lefcoe (Dr. Cheryl Zilli) of London, Robert Lefcoe of Toronto, and Andrew Lefcoe (Nancy) of Montreal. Kate will be lovingly remembered by her best friend, Theresa Foss of Waterloo.
A graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University, Kate made Waterloo her home and taught for 24 years, most recently at Northlake Woods P.S. She volunteered her time in the community from a Sunday School teacher to a soccer coach to a dog therapy volunteer.
Relatives and friends are invited to share memories of Kate at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Wednesday, May 5 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Parkminster United Church, 275 Erb St. E., Waterloo on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at 11 a.m. A reception will follow the service at the church. Private family interment at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
