Obituary of Dorothy Scott

Dorothy Scott
1925 -2008 Dorothy died peacefully in her sleep on the morning of May 13th, 2008. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Dr. Donald Scott and a daughter, Jillian. A son, Garry predeceased her in 1987. She will be greatly missed by Rachel Banham, who became a much-loved member of her family. She will also be remembered fondly by her many close friends, her sister-in-laws, her cousins and many nephews and nieces. Dorothy lived a long life with many days of joy, as well as some times of difficulty that she faced with grace and courage. She took great pleasure in the company of her family and friends, and relished the good times with them. She found having friends among the younger generation to be most rewarding, and it gave her great satisfaction to know them, and to help them a little when she could. Dorothy was endlessly fascinated by the infinite variety of humankind whom she viewed with great interest and tolerance, and with a fine eye for the ridiculous. Dorothy was a lady in the best sense of the word – honest in word and deed, generous, tactful, compassionate and courageous. She loved the beauty of flowers, she admired good design and good taste in all aspects of life, and she cherished her family and friends. She leaves a great void in all our lives. Honouring Dorothy’s wishes, there will be no funeral visitation or service. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements for a memorial social event will be announced at later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy’s name to Planned Parenthood Waterloo Region or to the Cardiac Care Centre of St. Mary’s Hospital would be appreciated and may be arranged through the Erb and Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South 519.745.8445 or www.erbgood.com In living memory of Dorothy, a donation will be made to the Trees for Learning Program by the funeral home.
