<h1>Margaret "Joan" Thiel</h1> (SUE) October 5, 1931 – May 1, 2007 Joan passed away with family members present at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, on Tuesday, May 1, 2007. Beloved wife and best friend of Doug Sr., loving and devoted mother of Doug Jr. (Chantal) and Patty Dalrymple (Steve). Much loved by granddaughters Rochelle, Payton, Dayna, and Maya. Sister of Allan Johnson (Marilyn) of St. Thomas. Survived by brothers-in-law Roy Brox, Gerald Thiel (Catherine), Bert (Jessie), Don, Carl (Beverley), Gordon, Bruce (Sharon) and sister-in-law Rosemary Paul (Alfred). Also survived by special family friends Jan Miller and Jan Hall. Remembered by many loving nieces, nephews and family friends. Predeceased by parents James E. (Ted) and Margaret Johnson, twin sister Jane Brox and sister-in-law Lorraine Thiel. Joan was a giving and generous person who always opened her heart and homes in Kitchener, Florida and her beloved Ipperwash Beach. She will be fondly remembered by all the children she loved and cared for over the years and for hosting her annual Oktoberfest Parade Open House. We give thanks to all who loved her for who she was. Our family is grateful to the Grand River Hospital, 5th floor Stroke Staff notably Mary Kate, Richard, Melisa, Cheryl and Amy and all others who made Joan’s stay as compassionate and comfortable as possible. Cremation has taken place. Joan’s family will receive friends for a memorial visitation at the Erb &amp; Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South in Waterloo on Saturday, May 5 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A memorial celebration will be held in the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home on Sunday, May 6, 2007 from 1-3 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, the Grand River Hospital Foundation or a charity of choice.
