Obituary of Margaret Hunter

Margaret Hunter
(nee Warner) 1932– 2010 Passed away on Monday, March 8, 2010, at St. Mary’s Hospital Kitchener. Beloved wife of Jim for 53 years. Cherished mother of Tom and his wife Laura and Stephen and his wife Heather. Predeceased by her parents Cliff and Ivy and brother (Bob) and sister (Doreen). Margaret lived a full life filled with family, friends and activities. She will be missed by her six grandchildren (James, Nicholas, Patrick, Thomas, Lauren and Joseph) who spent many hours with their “nanna” at the family cottage in Muskoka. Margaret was a good athlete and especially loved swimming and racquet sports. Her high school years were spent in Vancouver where she forged life long friendships with her classmates while trekking up Grouse Mountain to ski or taking swimming lessons in Howe Sound. She was also an outstanding horticulturalist whose hydrangeas at the cottage were the “size of dinner plates”. As a young woman Margaret graduated in nursing from Toronto General Hospital and began her nursing career. However marriage interrupted this career path, and after her marriage to Jim, she dedicated her nursing and caring skills to her husband and two sons, and in later years to her widowed mother. Margaret’s care, like all of her other pursuits, always had the right combination of compassion and skill – of which her family were the luckiest of beneficiaries. Margaret and Jim spent many enjoyable times travelling abroad where they explored and vacationed with old and new friends alike. As the years went by they relaxed with family at their Sarasota condo, and then later at the cottage in Muskoka. Following Margaret’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 11 in the chapel of the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S. Waterloo at 11 a.m. A reception will follow. Interment at Parklawn Cemetery, Toronto will take place at a later date. Condolences for the family and donations to Parkinson Society Canada may be arranged through the Funeral Home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
