<h1>Vera Armour</h1> (nee Brown) 1918 – 2009 Vera passed away, peacefully, at the Sunshine Centre of Luther Village on Sunday, March 29, 2009 in her 91st year. Predeceased by her husband James Armour in 1995 after sharing 55 years of marriage, her daughter Jane Truswell on February 11, 2009, grandson Cameron Truswell in 1997, sisters Nancy Brown and Mary Duff, and brother Norman Brown. Much loved mother of Peter Armour (Karen), Paul Armour (Paula) both of Keene, ON and Judy Astley (Bob) of Waterloo; mother-in-law of Dan Truswell of Kitchener. Cherished grandmother of Julie Armour-Tracey (Shawn), Crystal Rawn (Pat), Jeff Armour (Mindy), Ian Armour (Lara), Jacquie Anderson (Nathan), Derek Astley (Yoo-Mi), Jennifer Astley-Kinsey (Darrin) and James Truswell. Great-grandmother to 12 great-grandchildren. Survived by brothers Len Brown (Elsie), Bert Brown (Maureen d. 2008) and sister-in-law Theresa Brown. Vera was born in Brandon, Manitoba and lived most of her early life in Cambridge (Hespeler). She worked for Dr. Slater in Hespeler and the Staeger Furniture store, after the sudden, early death of both parents. She married Jim in 1939 before he went to war. They lived, worked and raised their family in Sudbury, Guelph and Kitchener. After Jim’s retirement, Vera and Jim became gypsies traveling all around North America in their Airstream trailer. Their cottage on Sandy Lake near Peterborough was a family gathering place and a great joy to their children and grandchildren. Vera was a vibrant and adventurous woman who loved to travel and meet new people. Those who met her encountered a generous and gentle woman. Vera’s family would like to thank Dr. Ruth Gingell-Potts and the caring staff at the Sunshine Centre. To honour Vera’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends are invited to share memories of Vera during memorial visitation at the Erb &amp; Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Saturday, April 4, 2009 from 11 am to 12:30 pm. The memorial service will be held at St. James Anglican Church, 520 Ellis Road, Cambridge on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 2 pm. Reception will follow at the church.
