Obituary of Ruth Cruise

Ruth Cruise
August 02, 1934 – March 22, 2010 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dearly loved mother, Ruth Cruise on March 22, 2010. Ruth is pre-deceased by husband Robert, companion Maury Bernstein and brother Barry Strangways. Mother to Scott Cruise (Lisa),Karen Campbell (Ron) and Brydon Cruise (Stacey). Very proud grandmother of Trevor and Drew Campbell and Jaime and Derek Cruise. Step-grandmother to Jordan and Jake Tamcsu. Very special sister-in-law to Marguerite Strangways. Ruth was born and raised in Brampton and moved to Waterloo in 1964 to raise her family. Ruth was a remarkable woman. She made friends wherever she went and she touched many lives. Always a smiling, happy, positive person, Ruth adopted many of her children's friends and was considered a "mom to all". She had the ability to make everyone feel welcome and special. We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful woman as our mother. She has taught us honesty, integrity, commitment, loyalty, competitiveness, perseverance and most importantly how to love and be loved. Aside from her family, Ruth's main loves were curling and golf. As both a recreational and a competitive curler she was involved with the Glenbriar and Granite Clubs. Ruth enjoyed her time coaching curling at Wilfred Laurier University. For this reason, the family has established the RUTH CRUISE MEMORIAL AWARD for varsity level curlers. We ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to this scholarship so it can continue to give back year after year just as Ruth did in her life. Ruth lived her last twenty years in Southampton, Ontario. She made many new friends, golfed and entertained at her beautiful lakeside home. One of her favorite things to do was go to "wing night" at the golf club for dinner, dancing and karaoke. Ruth loved a party! We are going to honour her with a "Celebration of Life". Family and friends are invited to join us as we share memories on Saturday March 27, 2010 from 4-6 p.m. and/or 8 –12 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Kitchener-Waterloo. 30 Fairway Rd S. " Light up your face with gladness Hide every trace of sadness Although a tear may be ever so near That's the time you must keep on trying Smile, what's the use of crying? You'll find that life is still worthwhile If you just smile " - Nat King Cole (Smile)
