Obituary of Beatrice Hare

Beatrice Hare

(nee RILEY)
1927 2009
It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Beatrice (Bea) Hare. Bea passed away on March 22, 2009 at the K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, Kitchener, with her family at her side. Beas battle with cancer advanced most aggressively last week and with relief, she was taken to join her parents, Thomas and Mabel Riley, brothers Kenneth, Harold, and sister Ethel Patterson.
Beatrice (Bea) was born and raised in Meaford, Ontario, and moved to Toronto where she hairdressed, a career she thoroughly enjoyed. Bea met her husband Douglas through mutual friends at Sauble Beach in 1956 and they married soon after. Bea and Doug loved their time at Sauble and they have kept so close to many of the friends they met during those early years of their marriage.
Beas greatest joys in life were her dearest husband Douglas, with whom she spent 53 wonderful years, her son Scot (Kathy) and daughter Michelle (Carlo). Her grandchildren Amanda, Sophie, Brittany, and Ashley were a constant source of pride and love for Bea. Some of Beas favorite memories were of trips to Texas to visit her nephew Bill MacFarlane whom she loved as a second son, his wife Jeanne, great niece and nephew Kim, David and Billy (deceased). Bea was very close to her sister Adele and many dear friends will miss Beas unconditional love and support. Nieces Gail (Leonard), Janet, Sharon (Ed), and nephew Wayne (Sue) will miss their Aunt Bea but know their late mother Vera and father Mervin will be there to greet her.
Bea loved flowers and each spring she filled her patio with brilliant colours which were beautiful to see. The luck of the Irish, her heritage, a great source of pride for her, followed Bea as she won more raffles and lotteries including her favorite: a Harley Davidson Fatboy Motorcycle.
A beautiful soul, an adoring wife and loving mother, Beatrice will be missed beyond measure. Those of us whose spirit she touched are grateful for all the time we had with her and are grateful she now rests in peace.
Words cannot express out thanks to the compassionate and kind care Bea received at the Oncology unit at K-W Hospital and to the support the nurses provided to Douglas, Scot, and Michelle.
The funeral service to celebrate Beas life and faith will be held at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Thursday, March 26, 2009, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. A reception will follow.
Private family interment at Memory Gardens, Breslau.
