<h1>Jan Swijters</h1> JAN WILLEM FREDERIK SWIJTERS December 30, 1925 – March 20, 2009 Jan passed away peacefully at home with his family on Friday, March 20, 2009. Beloved husband of Janny (nee Nielsen). Dear father of Elizabeth Lyons and her husband Ernest and William (Bill) Swijters and his wife Mabel (nee Jamison). Grandfather of Jessica Passmore (Luke), Julia Swijters, Darragh Lyons, and Ciara Lyons. Great-grandfather of Evan Passmore and Wyatt Swijters. Brother of Willem Swijters (Tjep) of Nunspeet, The Netherlands. Also survived by sister-in-law Klazina Wasylycia (Harry) and nieces and nephews in Canada and The Netherlands. Predeceased by his parents Willem F. Swijters (1974) and Annetje Swijters (nee Ten Brink) (1993). Born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, he emigrated to Canada with his wife, daughter, and father-in-law in 1952 and lived in Winterbourne from 1954 - 1999. Jan served in Indonesia from 1946 –1949 with the 1st Division 7 Dec. of the Dutch Army K.N.I.L. He was former treasurer of Meyer Industrial Distributors, Waterloo and became a C.G.A. in 1974. Jan was a longtime member of Conestogo United Church, more recently a member of Parkminster United Church in Waterloo. Jan enjoyed “the teas” at the condo where he lived for almost 10 years. The family thanks the staff of the Waterloo Wellington Community Care Access Centre for the care received enabling Jan to be at home. Friends are invited to share their memories of Jan with his family during a memorial visitation at the Erb &amp; Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 from 12 to 12:45 p.m. The memorial service will follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 1 p.m. with Rev. Elaine Graham officiating. Reception will follow at the funeral home. Interment at Memory Gardens, Breslau, will take place at a later date.
