Mildred passed away in her 91st year at Lanark Place Retirement Home, Kitchener, on Monday March 2, 2009.
Mildred was predeceased by her beloved husband of 70 years, Bud, in January, 2009. She was the loving mother of Bob. She is survived by and will be sadly missed by Bob and his wife, Sue; grandchildren, Michael Broad and Lisa Nimer and her husband, Bernie; great-grandchildren Noah and Adam Nimer; and nephews, Gerrald Case and Glenn Broad, as well as other family and many friends. Mildred was also predeceased by her parents, Velma and Fred Franklin; her sister, Kathleen and brother, Jack.
Mildred lived a full and active life. She worked in the Medical Records department at the Mississauga Hospital and was involved in bridge and curling and in her mid-life became an accomplished artist. She successfully battled breast cancer after 1989 and continued to fight the disease later, after it moved into her back.
Mildreds family wishes to thank the caring and supportive staff at Lanark Place Retirement Residence and the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre for the special care they gave to her in more recent years.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be planned and announced in the future to celebrate Mildred and Buds lives. Cremation has taken place.
