Obituary of Patricia Huggins

Patricia Huggins
Nee McGrath On Friday, March 2, 2007 our divine Father called his faithful servant Patricia (Maeve) wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother home to his heavenly kingdom. Beloved wife of Thomas; dear mother of Ann Pickett (Joe) of Ohio, Oonagh Fitzpatrick (Robert) of Waterloo, Aileen Laird (Gerry) of N. Ireland. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Tom Pickett, Deirdre Dobos (Jeremy), Michael and Patrick Pickett, Mairead, Kealan and Siobhan Fitzpatrick, Geoffrey, Aoife and Aoibheann Laird; her great-grandchildren Aedan, Declan and Anya Dobos. Survived by her sisters Anna and Deirdre as well as her many beloved nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her son Thomas in 1955 and buried in Egypt; brothers, Gerard, Kevin and Michael; and sisters, Bridget and Molly. A special thank you to all the wonderful staff at Columbia Forest and especially Patricia’s care companion Maria, whose friendship, compassion and strength made her last years easier. Patricia was born in N. Ireland and spent the first 18 years of her married life travelling the world with her husband Major T.W. Huggins. Early retirement brought the family to Canada in 1967. We were truly immigrants but it wasn’t long before we put down roots and became Canadian citizens. Our mother was known as “Pat the Irish Lady” to all those that loved her at the Valhalla, but Maeve to her family and old friends. She had a big heart and was always willing to help the down and out, be it through the St. Vincent de Paul, or the C.W.L. Many times we had ‘strangers’ at our small kitchen table for supper. Mom will also be remembered for her deep faith and the great joy she had for the wee ones. We’ll miss her indomitable spirit and great Irish wit. With all our love mom, your son, parents, brothers and sisters are waiting to hold you again. Friends are invited to share their memories of Patricia during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Wednesday, March 7, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., where Parish Prayers will be held at 8:45 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Patricia’s life and faith will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church, 173 Lourdes St. W., Waterloo on Thursday, March 8, 2007 at 10:30 a.m., the Rev.
