Obituary of Elaine Walls

Elaine Walls
June 23, 1932 – March 19, 2009 Elaine passed away peacefully, with her family at her side, on Thursday March 19, 2009, at the K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital . Predeceased by her husband, Dr. R. W. Walls (2001); son, Craig Martin (2004); mother, Reta Magee (1992); a granddaughter at birth (1981) and her first husband, Eugene “Bun” Martin (1973). Elaine is the mother of Leslie and her husband Jim Rolston of Waterloo, Andrea Martin and her devoted and loving companion Roger Turner of White Rock; B.C. Special memories of “Granny” are shared by her granddaughter, Tamara Rolston (Julian Hlywa) of Etobicoke and her grandson Justin Martin of Vancouver, B.C. Elaine was a member of the Kitchener Waterloo Garden Club, Probus Women’s Club of Kitchener, several bridge clubs, Circle of Friends, Probus knitting group and Probus book club. Elaine’s love of travel began in the 1960’s. She traveled with her young family to visit her parents in New Jersey and cruised for the first time to the Caribbean with her husband “Bun”. From that point forward there was no stopping Elaine. She traveled to Europe with Udo and Elizabeth, Cuba with Bob, Tahiti with Leslie and Hawaii with Mary. Her travel plans were never ending. From trips to the Antarctica or a beautiful drive to the cottage in Georgian Bay, it was a great life! She usually had her next trip planned even before she ever arrived home. For many years Elaine enjoyed the “sounds” of the KW Symphony concerts, garden tours, shopping trips and got great satisfaction when finding something, anything on sale. Hence the nick name “1/2 price Elaine”! The family of Elaine Walls would like to express our gratitude to Dr. Paul Hosek and the staff at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit. Their support and compassion for Mom’s wellbeing was appreciated.
