Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, March 12, 2010 at the age of 88 years.
Joan is survived by her three children, Pat Bender, Michael (Cathy) Abbott, and Kathy (Dave) Mason, her grandchildren, Tim (Nancy) Bender, Peter (Amanda) Bender, Christina Gallant, Kimberley Abbott, Zachary Mason (Jacqui), Gareth Mason, Amy (Shannon) Morris and Sara (Ryan) Funduk, and her great-grandchildren Dana Bender, Kendrick Abbott and Clay and Samantha Morris.
Joan was predeceased by her parents, her husband Russell Abbott, brothers Sydney and Earle Hiscocks, sister Leyla Aimone and son-in-law Paul Bender.
Joan was a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 530, a member of the K-W Naval Association and was a volunteer at Grand River Hospital for over 25 years.
Friends are invited to share memories of Joan with her family at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Sunday, March 14, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place in the chapel of the funeral home on Monday, March 15 at 1 p.m. A reception will follow in the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home. Following the reception, interment will take place at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo
