Lipke, Pastor Margaret Gwendolyn (nee McMillan)
The family of Pastor Gwen Lipke are saddened to announce her passing on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 following a courageous journey with Leukemia.
Born in Owen Sound on February 4th, 1932.
Beloved wife and companion of Donald Lipke. Cherished mother and mother-in-law Jo-Ann and David Arndt, Jayne and Dale Roe and Paul Lipke. Blessed by her loving grandchildren, Sherri and Dave Marcella, Shawn and Sonya Arndt, Shane and Sandi Arndt, Scott and Ange Arndt, Jason and Amanda Roe, Coulton Roe, Josh Lipke, Amber Lipke. Loved by her great grandchildren Lauren Marcella, Colton Arndt and Teagen Roe. Missed by brother-in-law Gordon Lipke and sister-in-law Koshje Lipke. In her passing she is united with her precious daughter Janice Lee Love (2004), her parents John and Verna McMillan (McKinley) and infant brother Carmen. She was predeceased by her in-laws Eric and Irene Lipke and brother-in-law David Lipke.
She will be missed by many nieces and nephews and family members in Ontario and Western Canada. She will be missed by the Gilchrist families in which she and Don held a very close connection. She will be remembered by Debbi Power (Rick).
Gwen had a zest for life; she cared deeply for her family and the well being of others. Her love of travel brought many fond friends and memories which she and Don cherished.
She was a volunteer at Hopespring as well as the Hospice of Waterloo. She currently is an on-call chaplain at Grand River K.W. and Freeport sites.
She retired from the University of Waterloo in 1994 after 26 years of fulfilled employment. Upon retirement she volunteered and then joined the staff of Waterloo Pentecostal Assembly and left her fingerprint on many ministries in the capacity of Pastor claiming to have fulfilled her destiny in life. She held ministerial credentials with PAOC.
It is with thankful hearts, we recognize and thank the pastors and congregation of Waterloo Pentecostal Assembly, Grand River Regional Cancer Centre, Care Partners team, friends, relatives and neighbours and all who have joined us in food, love and mostly your prayers.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Pastor Gwen with her family during visitation at Waterloo Pentecostal Assembly, 395 King Street North, Waterloo on Saturday, June 12, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, June 13 from 2-5 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate her life and faith will be held at the church on Monday, June 14 at 11:00 a.m. Reception will follow at the church and a family interment will take place at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo
