Obituary of Howard Campbell

Howard Campbell

1919 2007
Howard died peacefully on Saturday, June 9, 2007 at age 87, after almost 64 years of marriage to Marjorie (Lotan). He was son of the late Henry and Alice Campbell of Melbourne, Ontario. Their three sons, Grant (Wendy) of London; Donald (Susan) of Detroit; and Stewart (Sandy) of Cambridge; along with six grandchildren, (Stephen (Dana) of Dunedin, FLA; Scott (Danusia) of Ottawa; Katie (Matt), Andrew (Katie) all of Detroit; Jessica and Christopher, of Cambridge); and great grandchildren (Evan and Ryan (Dunedin); and Connor (Ottawa)) were the light of his life. Three sisters, Ina (Olde), Doris (King) and Mildred (Beattie), and one brother Gordon, predeceased him. Sister Isabelle Glaves lives in Brantford.
Howard spent five years in the RCAF, but most of his life was engaged in the plastics industry, having created Campbell Containers in Kitchener and Campbell Films in Orillia. He was a charter member and building chairman of Parkminster United Church in the early 1960's, and continued to maintain a stong involvement with the church until his death.
His 20 year association with the Rotary Club in Orillia was a most important part of his life. After his return to Kitchener, he spent many years with the Business and Professional Men's Club. Leisure time was spent golfing, curling, creating wood work masterpieces, and fixing whatever needed fixing; but bridge was most important of all, a game he excelled at and played whenever the opportunity arose. He will be fondly remembered by all of his nieces and nephews for whom he held a special place as Uncle Howie, the family financial advisor, confidante and supportive friend.
Our sincere thanks to Dr. Pope, Dr. Williamson and the staff at Freeport Hospital and the Community Care Support Workers.
