Doris Ruppel, cherished wife of the late R.P. (Rip) Ruppel of Waterloo, Ontario, died unexpectedly Monday June 28, in her sleep, at home.
Born November 26, 1918 in Grand Valley, Ontario to William and Ethel Baker. She was predeceased by her parents, sister Madge and brother Archie.
She is lovingly remembered as Mom by her children Skip (Joan), Jane and Rob; cherished as Nana by grandchildren Laurie, Bill (MC), David, Bobby (Jacquie), Tracy, Sean, Jenn (Lenny) and Mike; revered as Nana the Great by great grandchildren Danielle, Dylan and their father Jeff, Victoria, Sebastian, Christian, Braedy, Colby, Jakob, Alexandre, Oscar and Matilda. She will be sadly missed by her sister, Pat, nephews Drew and John, niece Sue, and her many friends, especially those in the apartment building where she resided for 32 years.
Doris was a graduate of the K-W Hospital School of Nursing and worked and lived in the K-W area for all of her adult life. She was the recipient of the K-W Woman of the Year Award in 1973 for her many years of volunteer work with the Canadian Cancer Society.
A celebration of her life will take place at a memorial gathering for family and friends in the common room of 25 Westmount Road N., Waterloo, Ontario from 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday July 9, 2010.
