<h1>Marjorie Wolfe</h1> (nee Wilson) Royal Air Force (British) 1942-1946 Born in London England July 4, 1921, Marjorie lived and worked in London during the Second World War London Blitz of some 50 plus days of around the clock bombing. Marjorie and her family were bombed out of their homes, but she would not go to the bomb shelter for health reasons and during one raid, a bomb landed in their back garden throwing garden soil on Marjorie while in her bed. She volunteered for Royal Air Force duty in 1942-1946 and trained for communications sending and receiving coded messages as a high speed operator from a secret underground bunker operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There were 60 teletype machines in Marjorie’s unit. In the Royal Air Force Marjorie produced, directed and performed in a commercial theater using her RAF station staff to raise funds for an RAF charity. She was able to borrow the necessary costumes from the London Drury Lane Theater. She meet her future husband Gerald, while they were both on leave and attending Marjorie’s Baptist Church. It was on Sunday, February 13th that night in London, they had a heavy fire bomb raid and the church was burnt to the ground. Gerald was transferred back to Canada to join the RCAF Tiger Squadron scheduled to go to the Pacific War Theatre. Marjorie flew to Canada in June 1948 at the start of Trans Atlantic Flights to join her husband to be. They were married in Winnipeg, Manitoba on July 17th, 1948 in the Broadway Baptist Church and then took up residence in Westmount, Quebec. Gerald worked for an airline and they lived in Westmount, Lachine, Moncton, Dartmouth, Dorval and then retired to Kitchener. In all those places, Marjorie was an active choir member of the United Church. She sang in church choirs from the age of 16 until age 85 when for health reasons had to retire and living in various locations the family gathered many friends of whom they always maintained contact with. Also, in each location, Marjorie was an active member of the United Church Woman’s League and over the years held every elected office and was presented with a life time membership. Marjorie was a member at large of the Air Force Association for Veterans and took an active part in Remembrance Day Services at Forest Hill United Church, Kitchener. Marjorie and Gerald were keen theatre patrons and retired in Kitchener because of the many theatres in the proximity of Kitchener. They supported the theaters in Galt, Guelph, Stratford, Drayton and Kitchener’s Centre in the Square. In 2007, she was struck down with Alzheimer’s and was admitted to Columbia Forest Long Term Care Centre in February 2008. Marjorie is the loving remembered by her husband Gerald Wolfe and dear mother to Debbie Gabriel and her husband Brian, all of Waterloo. Predeceased by her son Gary. Survived by a brother Alan Wilson and a sister Joan Callavy in England. Friends are invited to share their memories of Marjorie at the Erb &amp; Good Family Funeral Home 171 King St. S., Waterloo this evening (Tuesday) from 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place at Forest Hill United Church 121 Westmount Rd. E., Kitchener on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at 2 p.m. A reception will follow in the church hall. Private family interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Breslau.
