Passed away at home as per his wishes on June 23rd, at the age of 81 years with his family by his side. Cherished and missed by his wife Katharina with whom he celebrated 56 years of marriage. Loving father of Hermine (Rob) Brown, Rose (John) Zeller. Proud and caring grandfather of Steven, Kristine, David, Sherri and Michael.
Predeceased by his daughter Hildegarde and his parents Andreas and Barbara Sandtner.
George was an active member of the Transylvania and Schwaben Clubs of Kitchener for 40 years. He made a life-long career in his love of woodworking. He was an avid artist and traveller.
In honoring Georges wishes, cremation has taken place.
Friends are invited to a memorial service celebrating Georges life, with his family, at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home Chapel, 171 King Street South in Waterloo on Tuesday June 26, 2007 at 2:30 pm.
Following the service, friends are invited to join the family at the Transylvania Club, 16 Andrew Street, Kitchener, for refreshments and a time to visit.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Transylvania Club of Kitchener through the German Canadian Remembrance Society, the Waterloo Wellington Community Care Access Centre or to the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Ward, Dr. Pace and Dr. Kelly; the Emergency Department and 5th and 6th floor staff of the K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital as well as the Carepartners palliative nurses, Joan, Sarah, Paula and Debbie for their excellent care.
In living memory of George, a tree will be planted through the Trees for Learning Program by the funeral home.
