<h1>Janis Shantz</h1> nee Kueneman 1952-2007 Passed away peacefully at age 54 after a courageous battle with breast cancer on June 20, 2007 at Freeport Health Centre, of Grand River Hospital Kitchener. Loving wife of Roger for 29 years. Devoted mother of sons Matthew, Andrew, and Daniel. Beloved sister of Keith and Mary-Pat Kueneman. Lovingly remembered by mother-in-law Elvera Shantz, wife of the late Howard S. Shantz, and sister-in-law Susan and her husband Ray McLaughlin. Will be missed by nephews Brad and his wife Cathy Kueneman, Nathan and his wife Lindsay McLaughlin, and Lucas and his wife Michelle McLaughlin. Predeceased by her parents Erwin and Hilda Kueneman, and nephew Jeremy Kueneman. She will also be missed by her many friends in Breslau and at Holy Cross Lutheran Church where she was a faithful member and Past Treasurer of the Lutheran Women’s Guild. She was a devoted wife and mother, and Secretary Treasurer of Howard S. Shantz Excavating Ltd. for 28 years. Janis loved cruising to the beaches of Ontario with Roger in his 1973 Plymouth Satellite that she was chauffeured in on her first date. She also enjoyed boating on the Trent Canal and Lake Couchiching with her family. Special thanks to Dr. Campbell, Dr. Basrur, Dr. Ward, and nurses at Grand River Regional Cancer Centre Kitchener and Dr. Williamson and nurses at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, and the nurses from Community Care Access Centre. Friends are invited to share their memories of Janis with her family at the Erb &amp; Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Friday, June 22, 2007 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, June 23, 2007 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 322 East Ave., Kitchener, at 11 a.m., the Rev. Robert Bugbee officiating. Interment in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Shantz Station. Following the interment a reception will be held in the Church Hall.
