Obituary of William Metcalf

William Metcalf
WILLIAM F. METCALF April 5, 1943 – June 13, 2009 Of Kitchener, passed away sadly at St. Mary’s Hospital, after a long illness, at the age of 66. Survived by his life long friend Paul Dullaert and companion Leslie Felber. Predeceased by his parents William and Verna Metcalf. Bill would have liked to spend many more years talking with his friends about his bewilderment concerning the human condition. The Little Metaphysician When I was very young I was almost certain I would never know What was going on, no matter how long I lived. When I saw my first dead body I was certain For I had no idea at all what I was looking at. Later, I stopped asking questions, Not because there were no answers, But because I wasn’t sure what questions to ask, Or whether a question was even in order. And so I took a step backward into bewilderment, Where even exclamation is precluded, Where the very mechanism of response goes into spasm. W.F. Metcalf (2008) As per Bill’s wishes, there will be no service, and cremation has taken place. Condolences and donations to the Waterloo Public Library may be arranged through the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo www.erbgood.com or 519.745.8445. In living memory of Bill, a donation will be made to the Trees for Learning program by the funeral home. Quote from Bill (June 11, 2009) “I’m looking for a parking spot in the milky way”
