<h1>Jocelyn Cowan</h1> 1921- 2009 Shortly after her 88th birthday, Jocelyn passed away on July 27th, 2009 after a rich and full life, a beloved mother, outstanding grandmother and good friend to many. Sadly missed by children, Bill, Matthew (Inga), Pat (Garth) and Robin (Rifka) and grandchildren, Jemima, Marlow, Raffles and Felix, Peter, Eric and Andrea, Samantha and Alex and Tullia and sister, Dianne of Wawanesa. A native of Wawanesa, Manitoba, Jocelyn was a gifted student all her life and attended medical school at the University of Manitoba before marrying Arthur Cowan. She came to Waterloo with their young family in 1957. In addition to her devotion to her family, Jocelyn enriched her community in innumerable volunteer capacities. She served on the Waterloo Library Board, volunteered for many years at Grand River Hospital and with the Grand River Trails Group. In 1988 she was an official at the Olympics after serving the local and national Figure Skating Associations diligently for years. She had a decade’s long commitment to the University Women’s Club for whom she organized the used book sale for years and enjoyed bestowing scholarships on their behalf to promising young women. She will be missed by the good friends from the UWC Book Club and her bridge partners who exercised their minds and enjoyed each other’s fellowship for over 40 years. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at 3 p.m. at Luther Village Chapel, 139 Father David Bauer Dr., Waterloo with reception following.
