<h1>Frank Slota</h1> 86, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, July 27 2008. Loving father of Mary Ann &amp; Gary Middleton, Michael &amp; Brenna Slota, and Sandra Bester. Beloved Grandad of Meaghan (Ben) &amp; Emily (Kyle) Middleton. Trevor (Lynn), Shawn (Jordene) &amp; Tarah (Robbie) Slota &amp; Michael (Stephanie) &amp; Laura Bester. Great Grandad to Dylan, Jacob &amp; Emma Slota &amp; Agnes &amp; Duncan &amp; Meghan &amp; Adam Bester. Frank led a very full and colourful life. He was a member of the world renowned 427 Lion Squadron of the R.C.A.F. flying two tours of Germany during WWII. He was recruited to the K-W area to play inter-county baseball and hockey in the early 1950s. Frank will be remembered best as one of the most colourful referees of the OHL, officiating across Ontario when players such as Bobby Hull, Stan Makita and Bobby Orr were playing junior hockey. Dad also refereed numerous Memorial and Allen Cup Finals during his hockey career. At some of the arenas, as many fans came to see dad referee as did to watch the game! Frank was the first referee to be awarded the prestigious Gold Stick in 1977, as well as holding the title of Referee in Chief for the league prior to his retirement. Frank was also an avid golfer and longtime member of Rockway Golf Course. He and mom won numerous Married Couple and Best Ball Tournaments but his proudest moment was winning the 1972 Father and Son "A" Championship with 17 yr old Michael. Frank was employed for 40 years as the Maintenance Supervisor for Electrohome Ltd. Frank will be remembered as the Dad who had all the answers &amp; was always there to listen. He was the man who could fix anything &amp; build everything. Frank was an amazing Grandad who doted on all his grandchildren &amp; helped to shape them into the loving, caring young adults that they are today. At Frank's request, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation.
