It is with great sadness and many loving memories of John, that we share with you his passing at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, on Monday, July 23, 2007. He was 86.
He is survived by his beloved wife Dorothy (Kramp); loving daughter Jane and her husband Rob Seeley of Kitchener and two grandchildren, Katelyn and Matthew Seeley. He is also survived by his brother Ross Hertzberger and his wife Shirley of Waterloo; sisters-in-law Idella Hertzberger of Waterloo, Lorraine Hertzberger of Kitchener, Helen Hertzberger of Brantford, brother-in-law Walter Haussmann of Kitchener and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Laura (Fetter) and William Hertzberger; sisters Elsie Becker, Helen Haussmann, Marian Kurnell, Ruth Hertzberger and brothers Charlie, James, David, Randy and Edward Hertzberger.
John was self employed as a contractor for many years. After his retirement, he and Dorothy purchased a maple sugar bush in the Elmira area where they made maple syrup and enjoyed their 25 year membership with the Ontario Maple Syrup Association. He was a veteran of WWII serving overseas with the Highland Light Infantry in Belgium Holland and Germany and was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Kitchener.
Friends are invited to share their memories of John with his family at the Erb and Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo on Wednesday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Thursday, July 26, 2007, at 1 pm, with Rev. David Malina officiating. Immediately following the service, friends and relatives are invited to the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home for refreshments and a time to visit with the family. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Elmira.
