Passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness at Wingham Hospital on Friday, July 17th, 2009 at the age of 77 years.
Walter is survived by his beloved wife Delores to whom he was married just short of 55 years, his daughter Kim Kleinknecht and son Brian (Veronique) Gibson, grandchildren Tyler, Jeremy, Jean-Paul, Jason, Yannick and Marion, great-granddaughter Louise, as well as many nieces, nephews and their families.
Walter was predeceased by his parents Andrew and Jean Gibson, father and mother-in-law William and Vera Reger, brothers Andrew and Bill Gibson, sister Alice Page, brother-in-law Lorne Reger and his son-in-law Dan Kleinknecht.
Walter was born and raised in Stratford. He started his career with C.N.R. as a machinist and later moved on to work with Canbar. He retired from Myer Mercer following 26 years of service moving to the farm in Wingham in retirement. Walter was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #8 in Stratford and the 404 Kitchener Waterloo Wing.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to Dr. Seville, Dr. Kraemer, Dr. Shawn, Dr. Bonnie Marshall and the nurses of the second floor, Wingham hospital for their support and care.
A graveside service will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Breslau on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 2:00 pm. Those wishing to attend may meet at the gates of the cemetery at 1:50 pm. A reception will follow the graveside service in the Fireside Reception Room of the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo.
