<h1>Nick Hrab</h1> 1928 - 2007 A very kind, gentle and loving man passed away on Monday, July 16, 2007. Nick had been diagnosed with lung cancer in November, 2006. He accepted his fate and maintained his dignity throughout his ordeal. Pneumonia overtook his strength on Saturday, July 14, 2007 Many loved and respected this quiet man. He was born in East Selkirk, Manitoba to immigrant Ukrainian parents, three sisters and one brother, all of whom have passed away many years ago. Nick was also predeceased by his first wife Doreen in 1976. Nick leaves behind his second wife Barbara who will keep his memory in her heart, always. Also left to mourn is his loving son John, who along with John’s wife Annette helped him trememdously these past eight months. Nick is also survived by John’s daughters, Rebecca and Jacquelene. There is also Heather, (David), Nick’s stepdaughter from his first marriage and her family. Thank you Heather for all those sweet, sweet, baked goods you made for your dad! Barbara’s sons will also remember Nick with much love, Tony Lidstone (Debby) of Acton, Marty Lidstone (Beverly) of Whistler B.C. and Jason Lidstone of Kitchener, residing with Barbara and Nick for the past 9 years. Then there is Jason’s daughter Nekime (Peanut) who came to live with us 6 years ago. Nekime’s presence helped tremendously to brighten Nick’s life ! Nick had several workplaces in his life. Most memorably, his years at the Kitchener Market as Market Clerk in the late seventies. He also served in the U.S. Army (1948 – 1954), stationed in Germany. Honouring Nick’s personal wishes there will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place. A time to visit with the family will take place at 41 Wedgewood Drive on Saturday, July 21, 2007, from 1-3 p.m. Please join for refreshments and memories ! A special thank you to all the Community Care Access nurses, Drs. Henschel, Ward, Gofar, Gopaul and Hickman as well nurse Arlene who helped through Nick’s Last hours at Grand River Hospital, 6th Floor South.
