Obituary of Eugenie Holzaepfel

Eugenie Holzaepfel

(BOETTCHER)
1907 2008
We celebrate 101 years of life lived and the peaceful passing of our loving Mother, Oma and Great-Oma, on Sunday, July 13th, 2008, at the Owen Sound General and Marine Hospital.
Beloved wife of the late George Holzaepfel. She is remembered with great love by her family; daughter Elizabeth and son-in-law Peter Steffens Sr. of Waterloo, cherished Oma of Peter Steffens Jr. and his wife Janet of Harriston, Gregory Steffens and his wife Tracey of Barrie and Carolyn McIlwraith and her husband Paul of Waterloo. She is a special Great-Oma to Jacqueline and Ashlee Steffens, Jeffrey, Nicole and Daniel Steffens and Leah, Scott, Tess and David (DJ) McIlwraith.
Family was everything to Oma. She was an avid gardener and loved to cook and bake which she then shared with family and friends. As an immigrant herself, she understood the challenges of people arriving in Canada from another country. From this experience, her own special ministry became one of welcoming and hosting new immigrant families into the community by sharing support and knowledge with them.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Eugenie with her family at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo on Tuesday from 7 to 9 pm and Wednesday from 10 to 10:45 am. A service to celebrate her life and faith will follow in the chapel of the funeral home on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at 11 am. Immediately following the service, friends and relatives are invited to the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home for refreshments and a time to visit with the family. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Kitchener.
Condolences for the family and donations to the Arms of Love Mission Program at Waterloo Mennonite Brethren (feeding orphans and widows in Zimbabwe) or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy and may be arranged through the funeral home, www.erbgood.com or 519.745.8445.
In living memory of Eugenie, a donation to the Trees for Learning Program will be made by the funeral home.
