It is with great sadness that the family of James Sommers announces his passing on Wednesday, January 6, 2010.
Devoted husband of Jeanette (nee Moser) for 58 years. Loving father of John (Paula), Tim (Mary), and Dave (Paulette). Cherished Grampie of Candice and Mollie. Dear brother of Ethel Kehn, Peggy Elmore (Russ),Wilbert (Teresa) and brother-in-law Art Kropf.
Predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Mary (Graf) Sommers, his sister, Joan Kropf, and his brother-in-law Don Kehn.
Jim loved being with his family and looked forward to his bridge games and trips to the casino. Before retirement, Jim was a long-time sales representative for Dominion Electrohome Industries and was part of their Quarter Century Club. He was a long-time member of St. Louis RC Church where he sang in the choir and was also a 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus Charter Member, Waterloo Council 5135.
Cremation has taken place. Jims family will receive relatives and friends at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Friday, January 8 from 6-9 p.m. with Parish Prayers at 7 p.m. A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Louis RC Church, 53 Allen St. E., Waterloo on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Tim Uniac, CR as celebrant. A reception will follow the mass at the Waterloo Knights of Columbus, 145 Dearborn Pl., Waterloo.
