<h1>Michael Birkett</h1> 1923 – 2010 Passed away peacefully at Parkwood Mennonite Home, Waterloo, on Monday, January 4, 2010, at age 86. Misha is survived by his dearly loved wife Hilda (née Elam) of 62 years; dear father of Nicholas (Ottawa) and Stephen (Waterloo) Birkett and grandfather of Christopher, Matthew, Emma and Andrew Birkett; dear brother of Kupava, Lyova and Nicholas Birkett and Olga Gordon (Scotland). He was predeceased by his parents George and Natalie. Misha will be sorely missed by his family and his many friends and colleagues. Misha was born in England in 1923. He and Hilda were married in 1947, and they immigrated to Canada with their two children in 1956; they settled in Southern Ontario where he worked as a professional electrical engineer. Misha was a kind and gentle man who was devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren. He was an avid gardener and musician and loved travelling, especially to the Lake District in England. We would like to express our deepest appreciation to the staff of Parkwood Mennonite Home. A private interment has been held. A memorial service will be held at Waterloo North Mennonite Church at 100 Benjamin Road, Waterloo on Sunday February 7, 2010 at 2:30 p.m.
