It is with great sadness that the family of Phyllis Forbes Parkinson announces her passing on January 25, 2010 at the Village of Winston Park, Assisted Care Dept., Kitchener, at the age of 97.
She will be sadly missed by her step-daughter Joyce Gowing (Clifford); daughters-in-law Marion Byron and Tina Parkinson (William, deceased) as well as her sister Mavis Horgan (Roy); her 11 grandchildren David, Peter and Paul (Cindy) Gowing, Helen Parkinson, Joanne Tilton (Thad), Janet Parkinson, Scott, Shawn and Jennifer Parkinson, Lorie Nutt (Paul), and Karla Dixon (Gary); as well as her 15 great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by her parents Dr. J.P. Brown and Winnifred Brown; her beloved husband Harry Parkinson, and step-children Donna Mantler and William and Edward Parkinson.
Born in Oxbow Saskatchewan in 1912, where she received her early education, Phyllis continued her education to become a nurse and graduated from Winnipeg General Hospital.
Phyllis was a loyal and loving caregiver. She and her husband Harry enjoyed a full life together which included traveling to many parts of the world.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Phyllis with her family during a memorial reception in the Erb & Good Family Funeral Homes Historic Kuntz House, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday, January 28 from 2 -4 p.m. Words of remembrance will be said at 3 p.m.
Phyllis family wishes to thank the staff in the Assisted Care Dept. of Winston Park for the care and kindness shown to her during the years she spent with them as well as to thank those from Waterloo Region Hospice.
