Obituary of Beatrice Hogan

Beatrice Hogan
Hogan, Beatrice (nee Standring) passed away peacefully in Cobourg on January 23, 2008 in her ninetieth year. Predeceased by her husband Ralph and daughter Carolie she will be lovingly remembered by her four surviving children Ralph, Ray, Patricia and Marilyn. Nanny will be greatly missed by her twelve grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren as well as by her many friends. After receiving her degree from the Museum of Fine Arts in Montreal, she became an active participant in the art communities in Montreal, Barrie, and finally in Kitchener-Waterloo. She shared her love of her favourite medium by teaching more than a thousand students the intricacies of watercolour painting. The family will receive condolences at Erb and Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo from 11:00 am preceding a Memorial Service in the Chapel at 1:00 pm on Saturday February 2, 2008. A short reception will follow. Her ashes will be laid to rest in Parkview Cemetery beside her husband Ralph at some later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society by calling the funeral home, 519-745-8445 or www.erbgood.com. Some of Bea’s works of art will be available at the Memorial Service for those who wish to have a personal memento of her. All proceeds from the sale of these paintings will be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society. The family wish to extend our special thanks to Debbie Taylor and the wonderful staff at the Palliative Care Unit of Northumberland Hills Hospital for the professional care they gave our mother. We are especially grateful for the warmth, kindness, and understanding they offered to her and to our entire family. In living memory of Beatrice a donation has been made to the Trees for Learning Program by the funeral home.
