Passed away suddenly at St. Marys Hospital on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the age of 81.
Sam is survived by his beloved wife Dorothy of 56 years, sons Kenneth (Brenda) Jacobs of Waterloo, Bruce (Ellen) Jacobs and daughter Cynthia (Terry) Mercury all of Kitchener. He was a very special grandfather to Travis, Kelly, Scott, Kelsey, Sarah and Samantha. He will be remembered by his sisters Florence Sebert of New Hamburg and Inez (Arnold) Voll of Waterloo and sisters in law Joey Jacobs of Burks Falls and Florence Jacobs of New Hamburg as well as many nieces and nephews. Sam was predeceased by his parents Oscar and Margaret Jacobs, brothers Gordon and Maurice, sisters and brothers-in-law, Eileen and Ralph Wilhelm, Violet and Norm Cook and Hazel and Bill McNab and brother-in-law, John Sebert.
Sam drove transport truck for over 30 years before his retirement and was a lifetime member of the Waterloo Rod and Gun Club. He was an avid card player, enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, loved to tinker in the garage and was always available to help his children with various jobs.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Sam with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Friday, January 15 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 78 John Street West, Waterloo on Saturday, January 16 at 11:00 am with the Rev. Robert Krestick officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall and Interment will take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
