<h1>Norman Slothouber</h1> 1927 – 2010 Norm passed away, peacefully at Freeport Health Centre after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimers on Friday, January 1, 2010 at the age of 82. Norm is survived by his wife of 54 years, Cora (nee Vermeulen); his children, Jack (Betty), Mike (Cathie), Bette (Alan) Harley, and Kathy (Glyn) Williams; and grandchildren, Chris, Norm, Steve, Nick, Tom, Cora, Beth, Simon, Marissa, and Callum. Youngest brother of Marie Slothouber and Niek (Saakje) of the Netherlands and Mienette DeWit of Sydney, Australia. Brother-in-law of Jane Slothouber of Smithville and Dora Slothouber of Perth, Australia. Predeceased by his parents, Bernardus and Adrianna (Ouwehand) Slothouber; brothers, Jan (Hanny), Eric, and Bem Slothouber; son-in-law Mike Renaud and grandchild Jessica Marie. Norm was born in Heerlen, the Netherlands on December 14, 1927. Norm married Cora in 1955 and immigrated to Canada in the same year. Norm spent the first few years in Canada working in the construction and manufacturing trades while going to night school to recertify his accounting degree in Canada. Norm spent most of his career working as an accountant first for B.F.Goodrich commercial products and later as manager of finance at NCR Waterloo. In 1986, Norm began Nancor Perfections at his home workshop. He spent many hours manufacturing fine heirloom pieces, some given as gifts to his children and grandchildren. Norm was a dedicated member of the Kitchener, and later Waterloo Christian Reformed Church. He also spent many years as treasurer of Classis Huron of CRC. Norm was an avid reader, with interests in family history. With the onset of internet communication, Norm participated in beta testing I.T. software and discussion groups ranging from genealogy to carpentry. Norm’s family will receive friends at the Erb &amp; Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo for memorial visitation on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 from 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Waterloo Christian Reformed Church, 209 Bearinger Rd., Waterloo on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Vicki Cok officiating. A reception will immediately follow the service at the church.
