Mario Paradis

Obituary of Mario Paradis

Mario Paradis
June 27, 1951- Feb 7, 2009 A true gentleman, Mario Paradis was a loving husband to his wife Catherine (nee Anagnostopoulos) and a proud and devoted father to their children, Andre and Nikolas. Mario was born in Thetford Mines, Quebec. His parents, Denis Paradis & Aline Poulin, and his sister, Odette (Denis Fournier) and brother, Alain (Marie-France Couture) will travel from Thetford and Montreal for the farewell and celebration of his life. They bring words of consolation from Mario's nephews, Jean-Philippe and Charles-Antoine (the sons of Alain and Marie-France), Michel (son of Odette and Denis) and their spouses and children together with condolences from Mario's many extended relatives, neighbours and lifelong friends. Mario was a welcome addition to the Anagnostopoulos family as son-in-law to George & Angela, brother-in-law to Vickie (Alan Marshall), Betty, Nick, Stan, Aris, Robert (Florence Marino) and Frank (Deborah Richmond) and loved uncle to Christina, Kathleen, Alexander, George, Adam, Kaylee and Antonia. Mario was an example of balance and moderation - "Too much is like too little" - who lived in the moment. When others needed help Mario would not ask but simply started doing the work. He treated everyone he met with genuine respect and without passing judgment. When others threw up their arms in exasperation, Mario just shook his head and shrugged, invariably with a smile on his face. We will miss Mario's playful and mischievous sense of humour. Though in our hearts we feel the words "Not fair.", "Too soon", "Not right", Mario would and did say "I'm not the first, and not the only..." Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 12 from 7-9 p.m. at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo. A bilingual Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, February 13, 2009 in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo. A reception for close family and friends will be held in the Royal Room at Golf's Steakhouse, 598 Lancaster Street West, Kitchener. In place of flowers, donations can be made to Spruce Lodge Long Term Care (Stratford), Stratford General Hospital or Sunnyside Day Program, Sunnyside Home (Kitchener) and may be arranged through the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
