Obituary of Blackmore William Blackmore

<h1>Rev. William Blackmore</h1> 1919 – 2009 Passed away peacefully, at Columbia Forest Long Term Care Centre, on February 4, 2009 in his 90th year. Rev. Blackmore was ordained as a United Church Minister. His first charge was in Elk Point Alberta. He travelled across Canada with The United Church House and later settled in Ottawa to serve at Emmanuel United Church. At the age of 50 he began a new career teaching at Conestoga College in Kitchener. Together with his loving wife Lois, Bill’s retirement years were spent travelling, enjoying family and numerous volunteering roles. Until recently he was an active member of Parkminster United Church and thoroughly enjoyed fellowship with his church family. Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife Lois in 2004. He is survived by his daughter Karen and her husband Joe George of Waterloo, his son Robert and his wife Patricia of Hanover; grandchildren, David, Jennifer, Katherine and Kevin George, and Adam, Jennifer (Ryan Brunner), and Jessica Blackmore. He will also be remembered by his brother Dalton Blackmore; sister Jean (Jack) Phinn; sister-in-law Elaine Blackmore, and special friends Rev. Don and Lois Bardwell of Windsor. He was also predeceased by his brother Harry and brother Douglas in infancy. Friends are invited to share their memories of Bill with his family during visitation at the Erb &amp; Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Monday, February 9, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Keith Hagerman of Parkminster United Church officiating. Cremation will have taken place.
