<h1>George Loree</h1> 1938 – 2009 Passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 28, 2009 in his 71st year at Grand River Hospital. Beloved husband of Shirley (Wittman) for 48 years. Loving father to Tracey and her partner Allan, Travis and his wife Christine and loved like his second son, Pierre. Very proud grandfather to Nicholas, Christopher, Claire, Daphne and Georgia. He will be greatly missed by his sister Pat and husband Ron Keeling, his brother Dennis and his wife Marlene and sister Shirley and husband Doug Maddick and their families. Predeceased by his father Ira Loree and mother Rose (Lehman), father-in-law Joseph Wittman and his nephew Jeffrey Maddick. A retired captain of the Kitchener Fire Department after 28 years of service. He continued working by lending and caring for neighbours or anyone who needed a helping and generous hand. He was a handyman with a great many skills and never refused anyone who needed his skills. He took great pride in his grandchildren and enjoyed Sunday dinners with them. Our sincerest thank you to doctors Cameron, Hubay and Ward for all their efforts. Memorial visitation will be held at Erb &amp; Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. As requested by George and in honour of his wishes there will be no funeral services, instead he asked that we “Have a drink on him”. Friends and family are invited to help celebrate his life “George style” on Saturday, March 7, 2009 from 2-5 p.m. in his home. Family burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and can be arranged through the funeral home, 519-745-8445 or www.erbgood.com. In living memory of George a donation will be made to the Trees for Learning Program by the funeral home.
