Kathleen (Kay) Paleczny (nee Ruetz) was born on July 2, 1927. Kay passed away peacefully due to respiratory issues, on Tuesday, February 24 at St. Marys General Hospital where she had received gentle palliative care in her final days of living.

She will be lovingly remembered by two sons, F. Joseph Paleczny and his wife Lourdes of Waterloo and James Paleczny and his wife Nancy of Kitchener. Her absence will be felt by her grandchildren, Joseph and his wife Rebecca, Kimberley, Katrina, Adam and Nathan Paleczny. Kay is survived by her brother Father Frank Ruetz CR and sister Theresa Tomko. Kay will also be fondly remembered by her brothers and sisters-in-law in the Ruetz and Paleczny families, Joyce, Fran, and Catherine (Katie) Ruetz; Rita Mroz, Jean, Mary, Beatrice, and Sue Paleczny, John Nespal, Arthur and Sister Francesca Paleczny SSND, Peter Tomko, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Joseph A. Paleczny; parents Eleanor Ruetz (nee Schnurr) and Henry Ruetz, and brothers Jack, Robert, Albert and Gerrard (Gerry).
Kay was born in Walkerton and grew up in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. Following an early career with Bell Canada she worked for many years in Reception at St. Marys General Hospital. She will be missed by her many friends and co-workers. Kay was a resident of Trinity Village Long Term Care Centre under their compassionate care for the last eight years.
Kays family will receive friends at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A family prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Louis RC Church, 53 Allen St. E., Waterloo on Friday at 10 a.m. with her brother, Father Frank Ruetz CR officiating. Interment in Mount Hope Cemetery, Waterloo will be followed by a reception in the Parish Hall.
