<h1>Dirk Berdou</h1> 1931 – 2010 Passed away peacefully on Monday, February 22, 2010 at the KW Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, Kitchener, in his 79th year of age. Beloved husband for 54 years as of March 22 to Lies. Loving father of Vicky Stringer and her husband Robert of Welland. Devoted grandfather of Nicholas (Heather) and Rosalyn. A special guide and influence to the future generation of the Berdou and Stringer families. Sadly missed by his twin brother Jan and wife Carol of England and his sisters Marjan Salkovic and husband Mirko of Montreal and Marijke McCarron and husband Gordie of Ottawa; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Nel and Piet Schnuck of the Netherlands as well as his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father Jan Berdou and step-mother Josephine Berdou as well as a brother Robbie in youth. Dirk immigrated to Canada (Ottawa) from the Netherlands with Lies in 1956 and settled in Kitchener a year later to raise their family and become a dedicated employee of Canadian Blower and Forge as a welder. In his retirement Dirk loved his time spent recreationally bowling with friends, the great outdoors and following European soccer. Honoring Dirk’s personal request cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to a celebration of Dirk’s life with his family at the Erb &amp; Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Thursday February 25, 2010 from 7-9 p.m. Special thanks to Dr Rachakonda, Dr Moolman, Dr. Keleher, Dr. Gingell-Potts and the 5th floor nursing staff for all their compassionate care shown to Dad.
