Obituary of Monica Jackson

Monica Jackson

(nee Schiebel )
1918 - 2007
Monica passed away peacefully, at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, on Tuesday, February 20, 2007 after a long and healthy life of being a caring and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and neighbour.
Monica devoted her entire life to her five sons and their families. Mums illness and death is an overwhelming loss to her sons; John of Kitchener, David and his wife Margaret of Waterloo, Paul and his wife Catherine of Waterloo, Robert and his wife Christine of New Hamburg, and Scott and his wife Cindy of St. Catharines. Grammy will be sadly missed by all of her grandchildren; Matthew and wife Tanya, Robert and wife Angela, Jason and wife Sandra, Ryan, Courtney and Jonathan, Monica and Jared; as well as her great-grandchildren; Sean, Grace, Andrew, and Sarah. Monica (Mona) will be sadly missed by her siblings; Melo and wife Pat, Alma and the late Jim Bishop, Ursula and the late Alf Hahn, Marina and the late Ken Hays, sisters-in-law; Madeline and Mary as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was the daughter of the late John and Mary Schiebel of Hesson. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John G. Jackson; her twin brother, Greg and her brother, Cosmos and by her niece, Teresa.
Monica was born May 4, 1918 in Hesson, Ontario. Mona lived and raised her boys, for the past 57 years, on North Drive in Kitchener, up until her untimely stroke on February 8th of this year.
Mona (The Cookie Lady) will also be sadly missed by many long-time neighbours, who gave her a special GOOD NEIGHBOUR award at her 75th birthday party. Shortly after her husbands death in 1962, Monica sought employment at St. Marys Hospital where she worked until she retired in 1984 at age 65. Mona always made sure that everyone had an ample supply of her Famous Cookies.
Thank you to everyone for helping our mother in many ways over the years, but a special thank you to Daves wife Marge, for her special help, assistance and extra loving care, that was unselfishly given to our Mum over the last several years.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Monica with her family at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis RC Church, 49 Blueridge Ave, Kitchener, on Saturday, February 24, 2007 at 12:00 (noon) with Father Joseph de Viveros CR as celebrant.
