<h1>John Martin</h1> Col. DSO, MID, Q.C. 1921 – 2007 On Tuesday, February 20th, 2007, at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital. Beloved husband and best friend of Mary Ann (Kabel) for 61 years (February 22, 1946). Cherished father of Cathy and Steve Finch, Jamie and Renée Martin and David and Judy Martin. Loved Grandpa (Bompa) of Sarah and Xavier Debane, Alec Martin, Amy Finch and Corbett Ball, John and David Finch, Kate, Ian and Duncan Martin. Great-grandfather to Charles and Eloise Debane and Matthew Ball. Fondly remembered by his sister-in-law, Jean Yule and his nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his parents J. A. (Alec) Martin OBE and Jessie (Wilson), his brother, Wilson, and his brother, Jamie, who was killed in action in Normandy, June 11, 1944. After a distinguished legal career he retired as senior partner of the law firm of Clement, Eastman, Dreger, Martin &amp; Meunier (now Miller Thomson LLP). He served his country with courage and distinction with the Lincoln &amp; Welland Regiment (Infantry) through France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He was heavily involved in and recognized for his contribution and service to many community organizations including St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, KidsAbility, the YMCA and Rotary. Visitation at the Erb &amp; Good Funeral Home, Thursday, February 22, 2007 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Friday, February 23, 2007, at 2 p.m. Condolences for the family and expressions of sympathy may be made by donations to KidsAbility Foundation, St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church Bequest Fund or the Kitchener Waterloo YMCA.
