Gord died at Trinity Village Care Centre, on Sunday, February 17, 2008, at the age of 86 years.
He is survived by his beloved wife Eileen (Foell), to whom he was married for 64 years. Dear father of Roxanne Jervis and her companion Ken Webster of London, Randy Schnarr and his wife Jessie of Southampton, John Schnarr and his wife Mary of Oakville, Jim Schnarr and his wife Catherine of Ancaster and Leslie and her husband Gary Makins of Hamilton. He will be lovingly remembered by his 11 grandchildren, Colin Jervis and his wife Kristi of Hong Kong, Robin Jervis and wife Dikko of Brantford, Sarah Jervis of France, Kara Schnarr and husband Alex Drossos of England, Matthew Schnarr of England, Julie and husband Jeremy Lindsay of Burlington, Kathryn Schnarr and companion James Silverton of Brantford, Cameron Schnarr and wife Andrea of St. Catharines, Christa Schnarr of Ancaster, Kevin Makins and wife Meaghan of Hamilton, Karyn Makins of Hamilton; five great-grandchildren, Ana, Tyler and Riley Jervis and Ella and Ewan Lindsay. Brother of Roy Schnarr and his wife Eleanor of Waterloo. Gord was predeceased by his parents, Anna (Schroeder) and Charles Schnarr, brothers Arthur and Earl Rickert, Arnold and Arwood Schnarr and sisters Gloria Hentges, Mabel Paepke, Wilda Tomlinson and Verneeda Gracey. He will also be fondly remembered by the Foell and Schnarr families.
Gord was born in Kitchener on June 14, 1921. He was retired from J. M. Schneiders where he had worked in sales for 26 years. He and Eileen were faithful members of Hope Lutheran Church in Kitchener. He enjoyed special times with his family at their cottage in Southampton.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Gord with his family at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo on Wednesday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm.. The funeral service to celebrate Gords life and faith will be held at Hope Lutheran Church, 30 Shaftsbury Drive, Kitchener on Thursday, February 21, 2008 at 11 am with Rev. Terry Hursh officiating. Immediately following the service, friends and relatives are invited to remain at the church for a reception. Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Kitchener.
