<h1>Coreen Thrall</h1> "Nanabelle”, “Nan” Passed away suddenly at KW Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, Kitchener on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 in her 87th year, surrounded by loved ones. Cherished mother of Anne Tracy and her husband Barney. Loving grandmother to Christopher and his wife Rebecca Rawlings, Meghan and her husband Andrew Bacon, and Matthew and his girlfriend Desiree Mantel, all of Waterloo. Proud great-grandmother to Zoë, Ava and Kieran. Also survived by her brother Edmund Fischer (Nora). Predeceased by her devoted husband Glen (1988), her loving son Brent (1993) and her brother Wilbert (1992). Sadly missed by her faithful dog Mister. Marie Elizabeth Coreen Olga Fischer was born in North Bay, Ontario July 8, 1923 to Heinrich and Rose (Larivée) Fischer. Coreen began a teaching career in Levack, where she met Glen, a geologist working for INCO, and they married August 21, 1944. She and Glen raised their two children in Sudbury and northern Manitoba before settling in Oakville. They enjoyed their retirement years between their cottage in Fenelon Falls and Gulfport, Florida. One of Coreen’s greatest joys was to be surrounded by family and close friends. She enjoyed a very special bond with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Coreen loved us all “from the top of my head to the tips of my toes, and all the way around and from the earth to the moon and back again and to the earth and the sun and moon and back again” as taught to her by her great-granddaughter Zoë. She was an accomplished musician, active volunteer and avid reader who had extensive knowledge of world affairs, literature and the arts. Throughout her years Coreen showed quiet strength, generosity and great compassion. Honouring Coreen’s personal request, cremation has taken place and a private family interment will follow in Elora. A reception honoring her life will be held Saturday, December 19th from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Evenholme Estate, 16 Isabella Street, St Jacobs, ON, N0B 2N0.
