MD, F.R.C.S., F.R.C.S.E, F.R.C.S.(C)
Davids family is saddened to announce the death of a loving and gentle husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle on Sunday, December 3, 2006 at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital after a courageous 4 ½ year battle with brain cancer.
David will be missed greatly by his loving wife Sally, children Andrea (Eric Charron), Richard (Lynn Johannesson), Meredith (David Klingspon) and beautiful grandchildren Philippe and Sarah, Evan, and Brooke. He will be remembered lovingly by his family in South Africa and especially by his extended family in Canada.
The family would like to thank everybody who was involved with his care over the past 4 1/2 years.
Following graduation from U.C.T., South Africa and surgical fellowship from England and Scotland, he came to Canada in 1967. Respected by everyone he worked with for 33 years in this community as a very caring general surgeon.
David was a mentor and non judgmental counsellor to numerous young people and set a precedence of dignity, courtesy, and respect for all he met. He was the epitomy of a gentleman.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate Davids life will be held at First United Church, 16 William St. W., Waterloo, on Saturday, December 9, 2006 at 11 am with Rev. Richard Hawley officiating.
Condolences and memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Grand River Hospital Foundation, (Oncology Wing), St. Marys Hospital Foundation, Waterloo Home Support Services/Seniors Day Program or a charity of your choice may be arranged by contacting the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo at 519-745-8445 or www.erbgood.com
